Parents: Why not encourage your children?

I think of success towards myself
I try to move closer to it
So as to achieve but
I need to be free.

As an aspiring Journalist,
I have my life to live
I know a Journalist rarely rests because
There are always news to report, events to cover.

I have tried explaining to my parents
About my dreams and ambitions
But they will always snub me when I do and
Always try to discourage me because
They take my past to be the same thing with my present.

Over time, I have gotten to realize the fact that when your parents
Discourage you,
No one can encourage you except you but
I need something though...

I need my parents to forget my past
I need them to help me forget as well
Because they keep reminding me of it everyday of my life
And it pains not to have your parents believe in you​.

This is to you parents. For the first time, we are shifting from our orientation of the youths to admonishing parents because it calls for it.

People change! It can be either from evil to good or vice versa but no matter whatever the situation might be, it is always good for parents to stand the ground, put all hands on deck towards pushing their children to achieve their dreams and become successful men and women in life.

She has a dream to become a successful Journalist but instead of encouraging and motivating her to be what she wants to be, sponsoring her to all levels of education, they choose to doubt her ability, her chances of being successful and judge her because of her past, how sad?

Parents, you have to know that when you turn your back on your child or children unjustly and unnecessarily, it can turn out bad for you, in what way? If the child happens to be an unrelenting child, he/she will go out there, work hard and seek for help and once he gets it, once he achieves his dreams without any of your help...
Encourage your children in any way you can, any means possible and necessary so that they will remember your labour and sufferings on them when they actually make it. Not all children will be wayward if discipline is instilled, necessary encouragement, lessons, motivation is given and morals, taught.

Remember, you will always reap whatever you sow.
