WHY DO I DO WHAT I DO?
WHY DO I DO WHAT I DO? By Patricia Effiong Bassey
We have different kinds of human personalities in this world of ours and as such, we see different exhibitions of different attitudes as days go by but have we ever sat ourselves down to give it a thought: WHY DO I DO WHAT I DO?Regardless of whether the things we do are good or bad, asking ourselves this question will go a long way in correcting our behaviours… correcting our behaviours in what sense? It is not an exaggeration to say that majority of youths have gone down the wrong path. You see youths who are terrorists, youths are the ones politicians use to perpetrate their evil acts such as violence, you see youths into thuggery, cultism e.t.c, this same youths are the ones who engage in all sorts of vices such as robbery, burglary, fraud, pick pocketing and so on.
Have we ever taken time to think and ask ourselves, are we doing what is right? How do what we do affect our society? Do we make people happy or sadden them? Do we make life enjoyable or miserable for people in the society all in the name of doing something? If what we are doing is bad, how will we make amends and if it is good, what steps are we taking to improve?
Time is of the essence. Youths, let make the most of our lives. If only we can open our imaginations and realize that we are in this world for a purpose, to make the world a better place and not a living hell for our fellow humans. Ask yourself…
WHY do I aspire to be great?
WHY do I need to work?
WHY do I need to be on a payroll?
WHY do I even need to stress myself at all?
WHY do I do what I do?
WHY do I make friends?
WHY do I bring up ideas?
WHY do I even think?
WHY do I want to be my own boss?
WHY do I do what I do?
There are numerous answers to all of these questions but the vital and important one is that: YOU DO WHAT YOU DO IN ORDER TO MAKE AN “IMPACT”.
With whatever you do and still doing, always have the mindset that you have to make an impact. You must touch someone’s life whether you know him/her or not.
Look at Bill Gates, Mack Zuckerberg, Aliko Dangote and many other great people, they are great today because they looked into themselves, thought about what they could do, what they were doing and why they were doing what they were doing. They didn’t spend all their time doing negativity and in one way or the other, they have made a lot of impact in our lives.
Through their initiatives they have created employment and as well created satisfaction through their product.
Right now, I am challenging you all out there, whatever you set your mind to do or whatever it is that you are doing, never forget to ask yourself: “WHY DO I DO WHAT I DO?”
One of the good things of life is to leave behind a legacy that will never be forgotten in years to come. Do not get blinded or brain-washed; don’t let anyone chase you away from your dreams.
Aspire and you will acquire, as long as you put your mind and everything you’ve got in it.
